I've been reading, listening to, watching a lot of Dr David Hawkins lately. (Psychiatrist)
It seems appropriate that this has happened to me at a time when I'm battling some notions about inequality between different human beings, the differences in people's outcomes, and even reevaluating some of my political, economic, and religious beliefs. I guess this reevaluation came on not so much out of doubt or a loss of faith, but as a condition of regaining a level of neutrality that I have not had in 7 years or so.
If I hadn't been reading Hawkins I might not have appreciated that neutrality as being neutrality, I might have questioned myself more ("What is happening to me?"). It's true that the Tea Party has sent me packing from the ranks of republican politics, as far as an interest in being involved. But I was surprised to find myself watching as much MSNBC as I had been this year.
In any case my regained concern for non positionality, for nuetrality has drifted up through into my more conscious mind since around January. Good thing I was (finally) introduced to David Hawkins.
To read Hawkins work you might at first guess he's a big banging liberal, he relies heavily on the work of physicist David Bohm, a notorious communist (or at least socialist), and afterall he's an academic. But that's not so. He's not trying to bang anyone over the head with his consciousness studies. Does not have a political agenda that aligns with any party.
He talks about how the vast majority of the world resonates with negative attractor fields, 78%, 49% of the USA, and that most people only move a small distance in consciousness in their whole lives. In other words people are born at a level they retain throughout life. He places these levels on a logarhythmic scale, meaning that as one progresses up the scale there is a massive increase in power.
According to his research most people who lead or are in charge of businesses, not all but most, most of the elites also have an high level of consciousness. Having been through a year of being dominated and surrounded by an almost lower species level of consciousness, forcibly, I'm immediately familiar with how suppressive "bad energy" and bad people can be. Living almost all 365 of my days this year under some form of oppression or threat or force, I can tell you that I feel like I have had to totally rebuild myself. The strain that negative people put on the nervous system is astounding. No doubt when such force is temporarily in power it takes tremendous toll on those responsible for it, as I've clearly witnessed.
It is a very important point that rather than a source of love and support, many people's families may be the primary block to their development. Which has something to do with the inequality that exists out there in the world.
As for Dr Hawkins:
It's very interesting stuff. Not because it points out the obvious division of people's by consciousness, but because it points out that people can change by aligning with superior attractor fields, in other words by altering the inner conditions of their minds. People can change, they just don't do it very often.
He also makes it clear that no change to a persons life from external changes is likely to last without those inner changes. In other words you can give a shame based person a pile of money and soon the money will be gone but the shame will remain.
He talks about the differentce of power in different ideas and relates it all to nonlinear dynamics, modern physics. And I think very clearly in so doing strengthens both metaphysics and physics by uniting then.
You know, I like it because it rings true to me, in my gut, my heart, my mind, but I also like it because it makes me right.
With regards to inequality my friend, a professor remarks, "Healthy consciousness depends on avoiding excess cortisol as a child. Thus, a stronger social safety net to alleviate poverty, better access to high quality early childhood education, and of course stronger overall macroeconomic growth to stimulate employment and entrepreneurial opportunities could make us a better country. A higher minimum wage would help too. It's harder to be reach higher consciousness or even to learn to read when the stress of poverty hounds you. Even in rich, low unemployment Sioux Falls 46% of kids qualify for free and reduced lunches. (that's Sioux Falls, SD)"
I think the important thing here is that as children we barely have power over the conditions of our own mind. But without question the amount of cortisol we produce depends on the field of consciousness we are in.
I tend to support all those things the good doctor is saying, but I support them secondarily as to me it is clear that if you want to change the outer facts of someone's life, they must change the inner facts and conditions of their minds, to paraphrase William James, or you are pushing a cart full of rocks up a hill instead of riding a horse.
It is not about "fault" or "blame" that someone imagines material solutions to material problems, but over the arch of time I believe that the strong evidence is that while those material things will be provided to those of low consciousness it will be done by those who have grown beyond the limiting mind sets of those they aid and thus into greater usefulness.
To make my point I don't know whether higher cosciousness involves being rich.
Dr Hawkins remarks numerous time that it's evident that an over concern with money indicates a negative consciousness.
He talks about power vs force. (The title of his main book)Force be in negative, power being based on a building series - courage, neutrality, willingness, reason, love, and being positive. Having integrity. He says integrity happens at courage,
He says many business executives and managers (telling truth from falsehood, another book) test in the willingness and acceptance area. I have seen, up close and personal, what happens to an orginization, a business, a situation when you take the leadership and put it in the hands of someone who ranks very very low on the scale. It is demisasterous. It's amazing how fast all the wise motives disappear from the people involved on the way down the line from the top spot. It's incredible. Just astounding. Now if 49% of Americans are negative, that's saying something pretty strong. How does the world continue to succeed?
I think he says that something like 1 person of willingness counterbalances 70,000 below courage/integrity. One person who tests entirely within the bounds of reason counterbalances over 100,000 below courage. What's clear is that while I may not be a creature of the highest consciousness I can align my little consciousness with that which is, thus entraining myself to a level I may have not earned. Likewise, being in the presence of higher consciousness flows to is, and while folks may not know why, they enter into harmony with it. Well, many people do.
Furthermore, if ones level of consciousness can be held up in the face of oppression and force, one will succeed, and the person on the other side? Well, things may go very very bad for them if they keep their push going. In my early days of higher consciousness, when I lived secluded, but at much higher consciousness than today, I kept a list of all these people to remind me of the power that the proper path weilds by itself. As it was said, "Revenge is Mine", and it is our job to simply keep our form and let the true powers that be do what they do. That being said, at certain levels of consciousness it has been readily apparent to me that death is a gift that an attacker brings. It's hard to see things that way from my lowly perch today, but I once knew that truth.
Living in seclusion, cloistering, has long been the way of spiritual masters. In my opinion a person has a very different level as a cloistered man than he does living in the world. My last 7 years coming back to being a man involved in material pursuits has proven and reproven that to me again and again. I would estimate that a person can easily double their logrhythmic level (so by thousands of multiples) by simply maintaining such a life. However, as we will see that's not the way of a true leader.
In other words, the best stuff out there is very rare, but very powerful. It entrains and guides those without it.
Kinda like the 1% huh ? Not an economic 1%, but an elite of consciousness. Hawkins isn't saying money comes with consciousness, but he does say poverty DEFINTELY comes from it's lack.
The work he did with Linus Pauling in the 70s I'm not familiar with , but this stuff he's talking about sounds an awful like what David Bohm was working on (interestingly he says Bohm was the first hard scientist to test above the category of reason)
Having spent a good deal of my life on the streets, I can say that in my experience, 100% of the poor believe that the rich operate by the rules associated with FORCE.
What I discovered to be true was that pride, greed, selfishness were really things that the poor enjoy projecting onto the rich. In fact, all they are doing is imagining their rules for living are the same as their superiors.
Of course these things happen , but I've found it to be more false than true.
In my experience it's pretty much in the imaginations of the poor and working classes where those attitudes are.
Dr Hawkins states that the Constitution and Bill of Rights which state that "all men are created equal" amongst other things rank two levels above love, above unconditional love above Illumination, All Beingness. That puts those documents (not their interpretation by our courts, but the original documents) at a higher level than any other that form a government. The notion that men are created equal is not in any way contradictory to their having vastly different skills, attitudes, aptitudes, and consciousnesses.
Jesus. Krishna. Buddha tested the highest on record. I talked above about living a cloistered life vs out in the world. Like I said in my experience for the average person astounding increases in consciousness can be achieved by living in seclusion from the rest of the world. And going back into the world to work, that level will quickly crumble. The majesty of Jesus, Buddha, and Krishna is that they were teachers among the people, living day to day in the world and held their form, held their consciousness. Astounding.
Hawkins also states that if you take Genesis, Psalms, Proverbs, and all the New Testement except Revelations you have a very high standing book. I found that exceptionally interesting. As it seems to me that most of the disgust that I myself have with modern Christianity, whether it be antigay fanatics or End Times folks, is this extricated from the book.
He remarks that the Lamsa Bible tests the highest, much higher than the King James. And says The Course in Miracles is similar to the lamsa Bible.
Milton Friedman was the highest testing economist I recall seeing (not surprising considering his involvement with metaphysics, the Course in Miracles)
Karl Marx tested at a similar level to Julius Ceasar and Ghengis Khan (below integrity) Adolph Hitler and Napoleon both started above the plane of reason, but their numbers shrank to well below the level of integrity.
Islam tested the lowest of religions. (I believe barely positive or negative in it's current form). Christianity was positive but much much much lower than at its origination. Buddhism and Hinduism remain the most undiluted. Freemasonry tested above the level of love.
Liberals and Ultra conservatives and Christian conservatives tested below the level of conservatives.
As a form of government, oligarchy scored highest. I was quite surprised by that. Republic was next. They were the only two above the level of reason.
The USA is the highest Callibrated country on earth, Israel is under the level of integrity.
George W Bush's presidency tested well above the calibrations for the USA. I was a bit surprised by that.
We can look at our own lives and make very clear assessments about that basic integrity level. Do we seek to build or break? Do we create health and vigor or suppress it? Do we value old habits over new information? Do we see the world as people in conflict or cooperation? Do we take from others what we need? Or do we provide others what they need? Do we allow others to be free or do we seek their bondage? Do we celebrate others victories or seek their defeat?
All these answered questions contribute greatly to understanding what side of the line we are on. Sometimes it requires work, provocation, some testing of the people around us, our family, our friends, the government and institutions around us to find out the truth we need to know. How does a person or institution respond to a provocation that poses no threat to them? We can learn a great deal from such testing.
That being true, I have myself lost many productive days answering these questions, finding out the truth about the people and world around me, and it's been a tremendously disappointing discovery. I feel that I was fortunate to have spread my tests over so great a time. I'm not sure if I could have handled learning in a day what I barely survived learning over years. Fortunately for me, I came to the place (of fireflies) and Dr Hawkins and his methods for rapid testing arrived in my life. For at that point all the most important disappointments had come and gone.
Dr Hawkins explains that it must be considered to learn slowly what can be learned. We need to ask what we are ready to know, and not ready.
He explains that the placebo effect is caused by consciousness differences. That MDs who rate higher have much better rates of healing patients. That would be MDs that are in the field of love. And also account for strong influence to double blind studies. That folks who are drawn to the stronger attractor fields heal much better, much faster. That at certain levels of consciousness things that are toxic to most become nontoxic.
The war on drugs tested at near the same level Karl Marx. He says Alchoholics Anonymous tests on par with unconditional love. Drugs themselves test below the war on drugs, but lifelong drug users like Ayn Rand actually scores pretty well. And lifelong bottle of brandy a day drinker Winston Churchill also scores very high. So it would seem that there are tremendous problems for most substance abusers, but not all.
Additionally, SEX tested, just as an act, above the level of integrity, which amongst other things goes a long way to demonstrating that folks with negative attitudes about sex are maybe not very advanced people as well as supports the work of Wilhelm Reich who stated that returning anyone to healthy orgasmic function will completely alleviate mental illnesses and many life problems.
Oh, and astrology tested higher than sex. It was on par with transcendental meditation, suggesting that these were both integritous TOOLS for consciousness expansion. Tools. Now from my own experience I can tell you those two tools allow a person to reach much higher levels of consciousness in their propper application.
And no such thing as UFOs. And no 911 conspiracy. And 50% of what's on the internet is not true. Hummmmm.
